Dear friends and NPH family,
Everybody at the NPH El Salvador home is safe and secure. We know that many of you are worried since you have heard the news about tropical storm Agatha. There have been many landslides and inundated areas in our country and there are some reported deaths. The government has opened temporary shelters and has evacuated people from high risk zones. Schools all over the country are closed. The NPH school was closed on Monday so that we could check the facilities in order to offer our children a secure place. On Tuesday, they returned to normal activities. It has been raining since Thursday, but we thank God that we are calm, safe and secure.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.
Guatemala

The NPH Guatemala home is safe and sound. The entire house was rained in most of Friday and Saturday due to the storm, but activities returned to normal on Sunday as the rain ended. There have been severe mudslides in other parts of the country, transportation has been shut down in many areas since roads are eroded, and there was no school in the majority of Guatemala on Monday, including NPH. However, the NPH Guatemala home did not suffer any damage (not even any power outages) during the storm, so we are counting ourselves very lucky.
Note: On Thursday, May 27, 2010, the Pacaya volcano near Guatemala City erupted, blanketing some areas with ash and causing the airport to be closed temporarily. Even though they felt the movement of the explosion at the NPH home, the eruption did not affect them. However, the ash has complicated efforts to rescue victims of the storm.
Honduras
Teri Lyshorn, Home Correspondent
The children in our NPH Honduras home, Rancho Santa Fe, are safe, but damage was caused by the rains. We lost one of our two water pumps, and there was a lot of damage to various piping from the reservoir. We still have access to water as we have a two pump system, but the repair ( or replacement) will be time consuming and expensive.
School was cancelled on Monday as there was damage to the roads from Tegucigalpa to the Ranch thus the employee bus was unable to deliver school faculty or administrative staff. Piping for our pool was also damaged.
Would you like to make a donation for repairs, please click donate and in tribute write "Repairs to Central America".
Your support is greatly appreciatted.
