Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, thousands of children receive the food, shelter and education that they desperately need.
We invite you to experience first-hand the difference that sponsorship makes in the life of a child. As a sponsor you may choose to support a boy or girl of any age living at a Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters") home.
Your friendship will show a child that he or she is loved - your financial support will protect his or her future.
The purpose of the Godparents program is to raise money for the daily expenses of the child such as food, clothing, education, medicine etc. The money generated from the sponsorship quotas goes to the general fund from which all the children benefit, not just the child being sponsored.
There is a second reason which is very important as well: to establish a link between the child and the outside world in the form of a godparent. The godparent can play a very important role in the life of the child by providing an emotional tie to an adult who gives attention, security and a sense that the child is important to someone outside the realm of the NPH house where she/he lives.
Therefore, correspondence of all types, not just the sending of monetary gifts for the sharing fund, is very important in order to establish a close and caring relationship between the child and the godparents. This relationship is delicate and needs to be nourished but not to the point of dependency on either side.
Godparents send their sponsorship quotas to the fundraising offices and then it is disbursed to the country director to cover expenses.
A sponsorship can be under the name of an individual(s) 18 years of age or older. Children can sponsor a child with their parents, school or another adult as the responsible party.
